The Geelong Industry Trade Training Centre (GITTC) was established under Round 2 of the Trade Training Centres in Schools Program and was made possible with the cooperation of group of seven secondary colleges in the northern suburbs of Geelong. With Northern Bay P-12 College as the lead school, it is located adjacent to Northern Bay P-12 College’s Goldsworthy Road Campus in Corio in the northern suburbs of Geelong. The seven schools have worked cooperatively over the last 15 years towards provision of a relevant, engaging VET curriculum and over the last 5 years to provide a purposely built, modern $11.2m trade training centre facility with industry standard equipment, staffed by experienced trainers.
Working within the cluster of colleges that have had a cooperative arrangement for over 15 years, the GITTC is now a hub for northern suburbs students to access the VET in Schools programs. Becoming operational in 2012 the Centre is now entering its sixth year of delivering VETiS programs.
The seven schools partnering the Geelong Industry Trade Training Centre are:
- Geelong Grammar School
- Kardinia International College
- Lara Secondary College
- Nelson Park School
- Northern Bay P-12 College (Lead School)
- North Geelong Secondary College
- Western Heights Secondary College
The core business of the GITTC is the provision of quality training to secondary school students enrolled in the schools above. Additionally, the GITTC is able to offer state of the art facilities that are available for hire to other training organisations for adult training in a variety of forms to allow pathways beyond secondary school programs.
